Small husky farm · Rovaniemi
A van takes eight guests at most out to a small husky farm in the forest, where pairs drive their own team for 6 to 10 km and finish with sausages and marshmallows by a kota fire. Pick it for the run: it's the longest sled time you'll get from Rovaniemi for the same price as the big-name trip.

The pickup is in Rovaniemi centre or at Napapiiri (the Santa Claus Village area), and the farm is properly out in the wilderness: guests put the drive at 45 minutes to an hour. You get winter overalls and boots, a safety briefing, and a demonstration of the sled before you're matched with your team.
Then comes 6 to 10 km, which the listing puts at about 30 to 50 minutes depending on snow and the dogs' pace. Two share a sled and swap halfway. Guests report about 50 minutes in total, roughly 20 to 25 minutes each, and one counted 9 km with breaks for the dogs. After the run you're not rushed back to the van. You pet the dogs, sometimes help feed them, then gather in the kota for hot drinks, sausages, marshmallows and Christmas cookies.
It's $245 per person, the same as the 6 km trip, but with up to 8 guests rather than 20 and a longer run. The trade-offs: no children under 4, only adults (18+) drive, and the kota food is a snack, not lunch. One guest wrote that lunch was meagre; we'd call it a campfire snack and eat before you go.
Be on time: late arrivals can't be refunded.
Van transfer to the farm, guests report.
Overalls and boots, a safety talk and a driving demo, then you meet your team. Guides decide who sits where.
6 to 10 km with a photo stop. Swap driver and passenger halfway.
Cuddles and photos with the dogs, then the fire, hot drinks, sausages and marshmallows before the ride back.
★★★★★It was a wonderful day. The guides are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful [...] We did about 9 km (5.6 miles) of sledding, with a couple of breaks for the dogs so they could rest. At the end of the sledding session, there were sausages and marshmallows for everyone.
★★★★★It was a small kennel where they genuinely care for the dogs. They know all the dogs by name, age, etc. The weather wasn't ideal, so they even had 5 dogs hitched to each sled instead of 4.
★★★★★The tour was fantastic. We were a small group with 4 sleds. I was allowed to ride one of them alone. Those who were in pairs could switch after half the ride. The sled ride itself lasted about 50 minutes.
★★★★★We spent a lot of time with the huskies and rode the sled for about 50 minutes. Everyone was very friendly, and it wasn't a mass event. [...] On the way home, we made another stop at a frozen lake.

Children under 4 aren't accepted, and only adults 18+ may drive. Kids from 4 ride as passengers with a driving adult.
Not a proper lunch. You get hot drinks by the fire in a kota, sausages to grill, marshmallows and Christmas cookies. One guest called it more of a snack, which is fair.
Eight at most. One reviewer counted four sleds on their trip. Solo travellers sometimes get a sled to themselves.
